Two teams will be dropped from the Women’s Premiership due to relegation rules.

At the conclusion of the 2024 season, the Northern Ireland Football League has announced that relegation from the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership will occur.
Two teams could now be relegated at the end of this season, although there had been uncertainty regarding the existence of relegation following Sion Swifts Ladies’ withdrawal from the League, which resulted in a sudden drop in the number of teams from 10 to nine during the preparation of the fixture list in February.

As per the regulations decided upon prior to the League’s commencement last weekend, the team that finishes worst will be automatically demoted.

According to those regulations, “There shall be one place available for promotion into the NIFL Women’s Premiership.” The team that finishes second-bottom will play-off against the NIWFA Championship winners for the final spot in the League, which would eventually consist of eight teams in 2025.
