In Round 11, the coaches voted for two Geelong players.
For the sixth time in his past seven games, Max Holmes has received AFLCA votes, extending his stellar start to the 2024 campaign.
With a game-high 32 disposals, Holmes was among Geelong’s best in their Round 11 loss to the Giants.
In a full performance, the 21-year-old led the Cats in interceptions with nine and surged forward to score a goal.
Holmes played more in the midfield after beginning the season mostly across half back, where he was praised by senior coach Chris Scott for his efforts.
“At the beginning of the season, we may have first thought of him as a midfielder, but we kept using him because he was so explosive behind the ball. However, we have been outperformed in that area for a few weeks, so it only made sense to have him a little bit closer to the ball,” Scott remarked after the game.
“I think he’s delivered.”
Following yet another impressive performance, forward Tyson Stengle was included in the voting as well.
Stengle ended with seven scoring involvements and two goals from 16 possessions.
After 11 rounds, Jeremy Cameron is still Geelong’s top vote-getter of the season with 32, placing him 20th in the competition.
