Ederson, a midfielder for Atalanta, is supposedly a target for Liverpool
.
The Brazilian’s efforts this season have really impressed the Reds, according to Tuttosport. Ederson played a pivotal role in helping Atalanta win the Europa League, their first major championship in 61 years. In the Dublin final last week, La Dea defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-0, handing the Bundesliga winners led by Xabi Alonso their first loss of the year.
Atalanta eliminated Liverpool from the competition en route to winning the trophies. They upset the Reds with a shocking 3-0 first-leg loss at Anfield to claim a 3-1 aggregate victory in the quarterfinals.
Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that the Reds had reached a “low point” following the defeat, and Ederson participated in that match. “We played a bad game and we deserved to lose,” stated the former manager of Liverpool. We have to feel that way right now, but we only have tonight to feel horrible about it before we have to prepare for (Crystal) Palace.”
“Definitely we have to try, we want to win the game but now is not the moment to have a big mouth. We have to play a really good game.
“Where we are, this is probably a low point for us performance-wise so it should be possible to play a little bit better and we can play a lot better. But first and foremost it’s about Sunday now.”
During the 2023–24 season, Ederson made a total of 52 appearances for Atalanta, tallying seven goals and one assist. The Bergamo team finished sixth in Serie A and advanced to the Coppa Italia final.
According to Tuttosport, Liverpool has been ‘enchanted’ by the 24-year-old’s Atalanta exploits during their scouting of Teun Koopmeiners.
After Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left the team last summer, Wataru Endo is currently the lone senior defensive midfield player in Liverpool’s lineup.
Due to injury, 19-year-old Stefan Bajcetic missed most of the season, with Alexis Mac Allister starting at number six the entire time.
