Randy Orton has been the cornerstone of WWE for over two decades now. The Viper recently opened up about his retirement plans.
With a career spanning over 24 years, The Legend Killer has done almost everything there is to do in WWE. He is a 14-time World Champion and has set his sights on winning his 15th title when he faces Gunther at Bash in Berlin later this month.
The Apex Predator, at 44, has shown that he still has a lot left in the tank. He recently signed a five-year deal with the sports entertainment juggernaut, which will keep him in the company at least until 2029.
Speaking with Cody Rhodes on So, What Do You Want To Talk About? Randy Orton said he would like to wrestle for as long as he possibly can. However, he has told his wife, Kim, to let him know when it’s time to retire:
“To answer your question honestly, I think do this for as long as I can and make sure, we brought up my wife Kim on a couple of occasions, she told me, ‘When it’s time to hang them up, I’ll let you know.’ If this is when I need to hang them up, I don’t want to go here. I don’t want to retire and have a last match and then leave the company and have another last match and another one and another one.”
Randy Orton also revealed that he would eventually follow in John Cena’s footsteps and ride off into the sunset never to be seen again:
“Like John (Cena). When he says, ‘This is my last Royal Rumble. This is my last Elimination Chamber. This is my last WrestleMania.’ He means it. If anyone has ever meant that, it’s him. I want to follow suit. I want, when it’s all said and done and it’s over, I want it to be over. I want to take it to that point and then tear it down and ride off into the sunset.” [H/T:

Randy Orton believes he can go in the ring until he’s 50 years old. The Viper said he would like to end his career against someone who would be sitting at the top of WWE five years from now. Randy Orton is confident it will be his best friend, Cody Rhodes:
“I’m 44,” Orton said. “I’d like to wrestle at least until I’m 50. God, that makes me feel so old, but men have done it before me and tore the house down. It depends who’s on top. If you were to ask me that question now and I had to give you an answer, I’d say you. Five years from now, maybe the answer’s different but something tells me it won’t be.”
Orton and Rhodes have yet to cross paths. A feud between the two men has been brewing since they began feuding with The Bloodline.
With Randy Orton shifting his focus on Gunther for the time being, it will be interesting to see when WWE pulls the trigger on this inevitable program.
