The countdown for the US Open 2024 is on as the season’s final Major is about to begin soon. Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff are the defending champions in singles. It has been a while since a successful title defence in New York.
Djokovic and Gauff will face stiff competition from their fellow peers, including Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The Serb hasn’t competed since winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, while the American bowed out in the second round of the Cincinnati Open.
Roger Federer was the last man to defend the US Open when he claimed his fifth and final title here in 2008. Serena Williams was the last woman to do the same when she won her third straight title, and sixth overall, at the venue in 2014.
Rafael Nadal was initially set to participate but has decided against making a trip to New York this time. Former champions at the venue – Naomi Osaka, Bianca Andreescu, Dominic Thiem, and Stan Wawrinka, have all received a wildcard to compete this year.

When is the US Open 2024?
The season’s fourth Major will be held from Monday, August 26, to Sunday, September 8. The women’s singles final will take place on Saturday, September 7, and the men’s singles final will be held on the last day of the tournament. The qualifying rounds will be held from August 19-22.
When is the draw for the US Open 2024?
The men’s and women’s singles draw will be revealed on Thursday, August 22. There’s no live broadcast of the draw ceremony, and one can check the tournament’s official social media handles for live updates of the draw. The doubles draws will be released on a later date.
