John Cena and 31-time WWE champion – not Randy Orton – made each other’s careers, says his former rival

WWE legends John Cena and Randy Orton are known to be fierce rivals on-screen and good friends off it. However, a former WWE Superstar believes that a 31-time champion was an even better opponent for The Cenation Leader. The former superstar in question is Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler.

Edge, now known as Adam Copeland, is one of the superstars who had some great rivalries with The Chain Gang Soldier. Meanwhile, many WWE Superstars, including Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Bron Breakker want to face Cena in his “Retirement Tour.”

In a recent appearance on the Busted Open Radio podcast, former WWE Superstar Nic Nemeth noted that Edge helped John Cena shape his career. The Showoff noted that he saw The Champ and The Viper go back and forth numerous times when he was younger.

“I just remember when I was younger, it was him (John Cena) and Randy constantly going back and forth,” Nic Nemeth said. [H/T WrestlingINC]

However, Nic added that it was Edge and John Cena who made each other’s careers during their days in the Stamford-based company.

“Those two guys, like, made each other. And that was like the first cash-in, and it was the only way to get past Cena, and it was like such a huge moment, and it was like that was the good guys and the bad guys,” Nic Nemeth said. [H/T WrestlingINC]

The 31-time WWE champion returned to the company for a short run before he made his way to AEW. Unfortunately, fans never got to see Cena and Edge go head-to-head after the latter returned from injury.

John Cena could face Drew McIntyre in his WWE retirement tour

Several WWE Superstars are hoping to get their hands on John Cena in his “Retirement Tour.” Drew McIntyre also wants to get a piece of the 16-time World Champion in a first-time one-on-one match.

While speaking at Fanatics Fest NYC, The Scottish Warrior made it clear that he would drive the management crazy to grant him a singles match against Cena. He noted that the contest would allow him to tear The Chain Gang Soldier apart on the microphone and in the ring as well.

“I guarantee I’ll be pushing and I’ll nudging them left and right to make it happen because the amount of stories I’ve got about Punk and things that happened when I was younger, I’ve got tenfold on him. There’s never been a one-on-one match, and if I have to drive management crazy, I’ll drive them crazy, drive John crazy. I’m gonna get that match, and I’ll tear him apart on the microphone, which not many people can do, in the ring, and send him packing into a happy retirement, and hopefully Punk along with him,” Drew McIntyre said.

The match between the two stars will be a great one without a doubt. Drew McIntyre has been a top heel and can work well with John Cena’s babyface character for an extended feud.
