Teenage MMA phenom Adrian Lee reveals his favorite submission: “We have to teach you guys that stuff”

18-year-old phenom Adrian Lee has plenty of submissions in his toolbox, but there’s one particular maneuver that he tends to favor over the others.

After dominating the competition as an amateur and claiming the 2023 Hawaii High School State Wrestling Title, Lee decided it was time to go pro. In June, the budding superstar made his ONE Championship debut as part of the promotion’s loaded ONE 167 card in Bangkok.

Squaring off with Italian standout Antonio Mammarella, Lee managed to finish the fight under the two-minute mark of the second round with a slick rear-naked choke.

At ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6, Adrian Lee will look to make it two in a row inside the Circle. But first, the Prodigy Training Center product revealed his all-time favorite submission during a recent interview with ESPN Honolulu.

“My favorite submission would be the inverted triangle,” Lee said. “We have to teach you guys that stuff.”

Perhaps we’ll see ‘The Phenom’ pull off the inverted triangle when he heads to The Mile High City for his sophomore appearance.

Adrian Lee goes for win number two against Nico Cornejo at ONE 168: Denver

16 months removed from the promotion’s critically acclaimed ONE Fight Night 10 event in Denver, Colorado, ONE Championship will return to the beloved city for another history-making night of fights.

ONE 168: Denver will feature some of the biggest names in combat sports, including two massive ONE world title tilts and the long-awaited return of British Muay Thai icon Liam ‘Hitman’ Harrison.

Taking part in the festivities will be Adrian Lee who meets undefeated fighter Nico Cornejo.

Cornejo, who hails from Pueblo, Colorado—a mere 100 miles away from Ball Arena—will have home-field advantage for his hotly anticipated debut on martial arts’ biggest global stage.
