The 2024 NBA draft saw some of the biggest names in college basketball realize their dream of becoming an NBA player; among them was Philadelphia 76ers 16th overall pick Jared McCain out of Duke. The Sixers rookie appeared on the latest episode of Paul George’s talk show, ‘Podcast P’.
During his time on the show, McCain shed light on how he handles the criticism he receives on TikTok.
“You get used to it after a certain point,” McCain said. “I didn’t really like when people talk about the nails TikTok more than basketball … When they try and overshadow my hard work in basketball just by saying the TikTok, the nails, that’s when I hate it.”

He said his parents are agitated about replying to the mean comments and he has to stop them as he realized people making mean comments just want a reaction out of him.
The Sixers rookie is a famous TikTok star with around 3.7 million followers on the platform and over 162 million likes on his videos. McCain mostly makes videos following trends and also shows his hobby of nail painting. However, he received relative negativity for self-expression on the platform.
Jared McCain is yet to make his debut in the league as the NBA is in the off-season right now. Hopefully, he will get a chance to make his debut soon when the season starts in October.
Jared McCain names his rookie season goals ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season
During Paul George’s podcast, Jared McCain named his goals for his rookie season.
“There’s, obviously, goals that like are, obviously, obtainable. Like you reach a certain point, you get this, like, Rookie of the Year. Obviously, I want to win that, but the ones for me that I think are gonna determine if it was a successful season is, did I work hard? Was I present? Am I still humble?” McCain said.
The Sixers rookie also talked about being grateful and showing gratitude as he has lived by those morals his whole life.
