Dana White debates MMA reporters on Jon Jones’ status as GOAT and best P4P fighter: “Do you know how hard it is to stay undefeated?”

Dana White recently doubled down on his unwavering belief that Jon Jones is the best pound-for-pound (P4P) fighter and engaged in a spirited debate with MMA journalists, namely Kevin Iole and John Morgan.

White has ramped up his vocal support for Jones as the greatest fighter of all time in recent times. His relentless and fervent assertions have caught the attention of the MMA community, leading to a wave of memes poking fun at his conviction.

After Tuesday’s ‘Dana White’s Contender Series’ (DWCS) event, the UFC CEO found himself in an extended conversation with media personnel when he was once again lightheartedly questioned about his stance on ‘Bones’. White said:

“Are you guys that f**king stupid? You can’t be that f**king stupid to think that Jon Jones is not the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world and the GOAT, but maybe you are?”

White began to wrap up the press conference but then paused, settling back into his seat to dive deeper into the conversation when Morgan raised concerns about the UFC heavyweight champion’s sporadic appearances in the octagon over the years.

The UFC’s head honcho was quick to clarify and explained that Jones’ limited activity isn’t by choice but rather due to injuries that have kept him sidelined:

“These kids that come in here undefeated—do you know how hard it is to stay undefeated? Jon Jones went through a murderous row. You talk about inactivity and that he’s only fought one time. Jon Jones was supposed to fight. He was scheduled to fight, but he got injured. He’s an active fighter.”

Furthermore, White and Iole exchanged differing views on what it means to be “active,” with the seasoned reporter even pointing out that White frequently interrupts him.

Dana White weighs in on Jon Jones potentially facing Tom Aspinall after Stipe Miocic fight

Dana White recently shared his thoughts on the chances of Jon Jones facing Tom Aspinall after his anticipated matchup with Stipe Miocic.

‘Bones’ has often hinted at the possibility of retiring after defending his UFC heavyweight title against Miocic later this year while also dismissing interim champion Aspinall’s challenge for a title unification fight.

However, at last week’s ‘DWCS’ post-fight press conference, White remarked that although Jones has talked about retirement, he’s confident that if a bout with Aspinall becomes compelling enough, ‘Bones’ would rise to the occasion and accept the challenge:

“Yeah, you know, Jon is one of those challenging guys to deal with, and I think that he’s talking about retiring, but will he if the Aspinall thing is really flying out there? I personally think Jon challenges himself and takes the fight, and I think he does it.”
