ONE heavyweight MMA megastar Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane has forged a path of destruction since joining ONE Championship in 2021. In April of that same year, the Senegalese wrestling standout added Swiss standout Patrick Schmid to his list of victims.
Landing thunderous punches early in the fight, Kane soon brought ‘Big Swiss’ to the ground and threw jackhammer-like blows to secure the first-round TKO.
Later that same month, however, the 971 MMA and Black Panther Sports fighter suffered a shocking second-round TKO upset to Kirill Grishenko.
Kane responded to the setback by winning his next three fights, punctuated with a stellar all-around performance against 17-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) world champion Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida at ONE Fight Night 13 in August 2023.
That triumph secured his upcoming shot at the ONE heavyweight MMA world championship held by Anatoly Malykhin at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Anatoly Malykhin fully prepared for everything ‘Reug Reug’ will throw at him
Anatoly Malykhin, who also holds the ONE light heavyweight and middleweight MMA world championships, is entering his defense of the 265-pound MMA crown against ‘Reug Reug’ with complete confidence.
‘Sladkiy’ said as much in an interview with the world’s largest martial arts promotion ahead of ONE 169:
“But I’m ready for all of that against any opponent. When it comes to a fight with me, I’ll be ready for the grappling, striking, and I’ll be in top shape physically.”
ONE 169 emanates live from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The event will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
