Conor McGregor hasn’t moved on from his 2017 boxing loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr., which he lost via 10th-round TKO. ‘The Notorious’ is on the hunt for a rematch with the boxing legend.
In an interview with Jamal Niaz during the weigh-ins for BKFC Spain, the former UFC two-division champion delivered a fiery call out to ‘Money’, challenging him for a bare-knuckle boxing match:
“Floyd is a little pussycat. You’re doing bad conversations trying to get a boxing match at 155. Fight me [at] my weight. I’m the A-side… bare knuckle. McGregor [vs.] Mayweather 170 pounds. Let’s go baby, take off the gloves and fight b***ch. It’s happening, it’s happening. We’re trapping him in the corner. We have you trapped in the corner.”
McGregor is currently gearing up for his much-awaited MMA return. While he was initially scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303, a toe injury prompted him to pull out of the event.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, McGregor stated that he still intends to lock in ‘Iron’ as his comeback opponent, despite the former Bellator champion being booked to face Charles Oliveira at UFC 309.
Meanwhile, since retiring from active competition, Mayweather Jr. has been linked to many lucrative exhibition bouts. He was last seen in action in a rematch against John Gotti III.
When Floyd Mayweather Jr. invited Conor McGregor to train at his gym
While Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have a long-standing rivalry, there seems to be mutual respect between them.
In 2018, when McGregor was gearing up to fight the then-lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, ‘Money’ invited the Irishman to train at his renowned boxing club.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, the former five-division world champion said:
“Leading up to the fight when McGregor gets to Las Vegas, I know the UFC got a training facility, but we’d like for him to work out at the Mayweather boxing club.”
