ONE heavyweight MMA monster Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane is training harder than ever to unseat three-division ONE MMA king Anatoly Malykhin as the new ONE heavyweight MMA world champion at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. ‘Reug Reug’ on Nov. 8 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The world’s largest martial arts promotion shared an Instagram video of Kane carrying his training partner up a sand dune with the accompanying caption:
“Effortless đ˛ Will Senegalese warrior Reug Reug take down Anatoly Malykhin and claim the ONE Heavyweight MMA World Championship at ONE 169? @reugreug”
The Senegalese wrestling machine has been nearly unstoppable since making his way to ONE in 2021, winning three of his first four bouts via TKO.
Though he can finish his opponents at will, the 971 MMA and Black Panther Sports star proved he can go the distance in unanimous decision wins over Jasur Mirzamukhamedov and 17-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida in December 2022 and August 2023 respectively.
‘Reug Reug’ eyeing Anatoly Malykhin’s light heavyweight MMA crown after ONE 169 world title tilt
Oumar Kane plans to take the ONE light heavyweight MMA world championship from Anatoly Malykhin, who also holds 26 pounds of middleweight MMA gold, should he win the 265-pound MMA crown from him at ONE 169.
Speaking with combat sports journalist Nick Atkin, ‘Reug Reug’ said:
“It’s my belt, you know. I’m going to win this fight, Inshallah. Then I’m going down to 100kg, I’ll go to light heavyweight, and I’m going to win.”
ONE 169 will air live from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The event will be free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
