Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about Triple H’s perspective on championships in the company. The Game is currently in charge of the main roster’s creative team.
The debate around the importance of title belts started a couple of weeks ago when Russo called them props. WWE legend Rikishi responded, saying championships meant a lot to wrestlers and were a testimony of their hard work in the ring. The Hall of Famer also warned Russo and challenged him to a fight.
On a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Vince Russo said Triple H may view championships as more than just a prop because of his traditional view of the business.
The veteran writer claimed other stars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and Kane didn’t think too much about titles. He explained that regardless of what championships meant to wrestlers, the writers never saw it that way.
Former WWE employee says he got an ‘uneasy vibe’ from Vince McMahon HERE
“I would think because of the lineage and the way he came in the business, I would think Triple H was more traditional. I would think it would mean more to Triple H. Do I think it meant that to Steve Austin? Absolutely not. I think what it meant to Steve Austin was money.” Russo continued, “I don’t think it meant anything to ‘Taker, I don’t think it meant anything to Kane.” [From 21:49 onwards]
This week, the WWE creative team decided to have Jey Uso drop the Intercontinental Championship to Bron Breakker after a reign of 27 days. The loss came as a result of The Bloodline interfering in the matchup.
It will be interesting to see whether Jey Uso pursues the Intercontinental Title or decides to settle his differences with Solo Sikoa and the rest of The Bloodline.
