I was familiar with the things” – Jackie Buntan says transition from Muay Thai to kickboxing went smoothly

Filipina-American striking star and former ONE world title challenger Jackie Buntan is a Muay Thai fighter at heart.

In fact, since the 27-year-old Boxing Works representative joined ONE Championship in February of 2021, she has been an absolute force to be reckoned with in ‘the art of eight limbs’.

But now, Buntan is ready for a new challenge in the world’s largest martial arts organization. In just a few weeks’ time, Buntan will step into the ring against kickboxing superstar ‘C18’ Anissa Meksen for a piece of ONE Championship history.

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Buntan says the transition from Muay Thai to kickboxing has been smooth, and she can’t wait to showcase her skills.

The 27-year-old Filipina-American star said:

“The transition was, I wouldn’t say entirely new because I was able to help Janet [Todd], my training partner, in the past when she prepared for her kickboxing bouts. So I was familiar with the things. But it was just more so, how can we make this transition and do it as organically and smoothly to incorporate my original style in it.”

How successful Buntan is in kickboxing is entirely up to her, and she must know to seize the moment at ONE 169 next month when she goes for gold.
