Manchester United legend Roy Keane has offered his thoughts on the Red Devils’ first game under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who took charge on November 11. The team played their first match under Amorim on November 24, facing Ipswich Town away in the Premier League.
Despite a strong start with Marcus Rashford scoring early, Manchester United ended up drawing 1-1, as Ipswich Town equalized through Omari Hutchinson. Speaking after the match, Keane criticized his former team for a lack of quality in the second half, highlighting their ongoing issues. He remarked, “We saw the shape of the team but it is the same players and the same problems. We talk about leopards and spots. Lack of goals and a lack of quality in the second half. Ipswich looked the better team. It’s his first game… but ultimately, he will be disappointed.”
Manchester United will return to action in the Europa League on Thursday, November 28, against Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford. Their next Premier League match will be against Everton at home on Sunday, December 1. The team is currently 12th in the Premier League table after 12 matches, sitting 15 points behind leaders Liverpool.
Amorim, who had a successful stint at Sporting CP, now faces the challenge of improving United’s form, which has been inconsistent this season. Key players like Luke Shaw have returned from injury, and Amorim will hope to integrate new signings like Leny Yoro, who has been sidelined due to a foot injury, into the squad soon.
