Ethan Page, who made a successful debut in WWE NXT earlier this year, recently shared his thoughts on working with the next generation of stars on the brand. In a conversation with Sports Illustrated, Page explained that working with NXT’s up-and-coming talent requires a great deal of patience, acknowledging the significant difference in the paths that he and many NXT stars have taken to get to WWE.
Page, who has been in the wrestling business for nearly two decades, spoke about how the younger NXT wrestlers often became fans of the sport after joining WWE, whereas he developed a passion for wrestling at a young age. He emphasized that although he respects the athleticism of his younger counterparts, the journey to the top for some of them has been much faster than his own, requiring him to adjust his approach with patience.
Despite the differences in experience, Page recognized the unique paths each wrestler has taken to reach WWE. Some were recruited directly by WWE and trained at their facilities, while others had to prove themselves in other promotions before being noticed by the company. He acknowledged the hard work and special qualities that these athletes brought to the table.
Page is currently involved in a high-stakes match at NXT Deadline, where he will compete in the Iron Survivor Match against Eddy Thorpe, Je’Von Evans, Nathan Frazer, and Wes Lee. The winner will earn a shot at the NXT Championship. Having previously defeated Trick Williams for the NXT Title, Page may soon be eyeing another title reign before making a move to WWE’s main roster.
