Demetrious Johnson is one of the few fighters in combat sports history who got rocked by one of Rodtang’s punches and lived to tell the story.
The flyweight MMA world champion winced when he rolled back the tape on his superfight with ‘The Iron Man’ in March 2022. In a clip on Instagram, Johnson recalled how it felt to get hit by Rodtang in the first round of their Muay Thai scrum.
Describing the actions that led to the flaming punches, ‘Mighty Mouse’ went on the record saying:
“SHEEESH! Right here, I get rocked. John Dodson and Rodtang are the only people who have actually hit me so damn hard, where I’m like, ‘Oh my god, that hurt.'”
If ‘Mighty Mouse’ saw stars against Rodtang, imagine what kind of constellation Jacob Smith will see when he resumes his rivalry with ‘The Iron Man’ at ONE 169.
ONE Championship called on the fans this week to share their reactions to another potential barnburner between Rodtang and Jacob Smith below:
“SHEESH. Can Rodtang lay it on Jacob Smith in their rematch on November 8 at ONE 169: Atlanta?”
Rodtang celebrates another birthday year with the promise of holding his belt for just as long
ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitumuangnon is reportedly grateful to have celebrated another year of life, as he turned 27 this past July.
Rodtang’s life has been marked with a highly established martial arts career in ONE Championship, taking the flyweight world by storm when he first arrived in ONE as a 21-year-old prospect.
Now, five world title defenses in, ‘The Iron Man’ is an absolute megastar. Feeling on top of the world, Rodtang had the following message to his fans for being his greatest supporters.
“Ready to take on the future! Another year has passed. I plan to keep this belt forever!! Thank you to my fans for all your support.”
