UFC legend Michael Bisping witnesses two of his lesser-known but impressive records broken in a single event

Michael Bisping, a trailblazer for British MMA and former UFC middleweight champion, saw two of his longstanding records fall at UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Bisping, who boasts nearly 40 UFC appearances and is celebrated for his 2016 middleweight title win, no longer holds two of his key records in the middleweight division.

In the co-main event, Brad Tavares faced Jun Yong Park in a fiercely contested bout. Despite losing via split decision, Tavares broke Bisping’s record for the most middleweight appearances, stepping into the octagon for the 25th time. Bisping had held the previous record with 24 fights.

Additionally, Tavares surpassed Bisping’s total fight time in the middleweight division, now boasting 5 hours, 22 minutes, and 35 seconds in the cage, compared to Bisping’s 5:15:15. Although Tavares suffered his fourth loss in five fights, the night was still significant for him, as he ended up earning a UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance bonus of $21,000 for his efforts.

Michael Bisping recounts catching a thief in Paris

Michael Bisping recently shared a dramatic encounter while visiting Paris with his wife, Rebecca. After serving as part of the broadcast team for UFC Fight Night 243, Bisping extended his stay to enjoy the city’s sights. However, during breakfast in Montmartre, a thief snatched Rebecca’s purse and attempted to flee.

In a video posted on X, Bisping recounted how he sprang into action, chasing down the culprit:

“I’m here at the world famous Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles having a walk around, but earlier today, I had to stop a crime. Sitting there having breakfast with Rebecca in the streets of Montmartre, Paris and some little s**t snatches Rebecca’s bag, runs away. So, I chase after him, get a hold of him, he had the bag already hidden in like a towel.”

He added:

“Got the bag off him, he didn’t speak a word of English, obviously. Didn’t do anything to him. Got the bag back. He was s**tting his pants, poor guy… Anyway, I let him go, turned around, boom, just gave him a nice little kick up the a**. Little s**t. Anyway, got the bag back, all is good.”
