Cody Rhodes’ promos sound like “Japanese films that have been dubbed in English,” says WWE veteran (Exclusive)

Cody Rhodes has been one of the top guys on the WWE roster since returning to the company a couple of years back. While The American Nightmare is majorly over with the fans, his promo abilities have not impressed wrestling veteran Vince Russo.

Cody Rhodes was present on the latest edition of RAW, where he had a promo battle with Gunther. The two champions will face off at Crown Jewel on November 2, with the winner being crowned the inaugural WWE Crown Jewel Champion.

Speaking about the segment on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Vince Russo said that he’s tired of Cody’s “over-the-top and arrogant promos.” The former WWE writer added that Rhodes’ promos sound like a Japanese movie that’s dubbed in English.

“I have kinda figured this out. I don’t know if I have used this analogy before. I am sitting here listening to Cody. I am so tired of his over-the-top, pompous, and arrogant promos. You know what it sounds like? It sounds like a Japanese film that is been dubbed in English. I guarantee you,” said Russo.

Russo also talked about the war of words between The American Nightmare and Gunther:

“A promo that went nowhere, a promo that finished flat. I hate flat promos. As a writer, when you are writing these things out, you know it.” [From 1:00:51 onwards]

Cody Rhodes is currently a marked man in WWE. Besides The Ring General, The American Nightmare will also have to keep a close eye on Kevin Owens, who turned on him at Bad Blood.
