Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes recently addressed his involvement in The Bloodline storyline. The American Nightmare took a massive shot at Roman Reigns and The Rock.
Rhodes originally challenged Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39. Despite failing to capture the title then, the 39-year-old beat The Original Tribal Chief at the following Show of Shows to become the new champion. Meanwhile, The American Nightmare has had a heated feud with The Rock heading into WrestleMania 41. The Final Boss even pinned him on Night One of ‘Mania XL to earn himself and Roman a victory over Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag team match.
In a recent interview with WACH FOX, Rhodes took a significant shot at Reigns and The Rock while addressing his role in The Bloodline storyline. He claimed that he thought his role in the story was to be the guy who beats the two multi-time World Champions:
“I’m always of the thought that my point in the story was just to be the guy who beats them (Reigns and The Rock). And I know that sounds really like arrogant but I thought maybe that’s just what I do, you know, with Solo Sikoa, who will be there (on SmackDown) tonight,” he said. [From 03:08 to 03:21]
Will Cody Rhodes defend his title against The Rock and Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 41?
The Rock made a surprise comeback at Bad Blood after nearly six months of absence. The Final Boss made a cryptic gesture to Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, counting to three on his hand before making a cut-throat signal.
Since then, reports suggested The Rock’s signal might lead to a Triple Threat Match between him, Reigns, and Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts also proposed the same scenario:
““Maybe Rock takes out Jimmy (Uso) on the way to WrestleMania, maybe The Rock has to take out Jey (Uso). Who knows? But, ultimately, Roman Reigns can win the Royal Rumble. The Rock can get himself in the main event of WrestleMania. And Night Two of WrestleMania is that way main evented with Cody Rhodes defending his title against The Rock and Roman Reigns. And all three within that Triple Threat have problems with each other,” he said.
While Reigns has been clear about his desire to win the Undisputed WWE Championship back, The Rock had promised Rhodes to go after him upon returning. It would be interesting to see if the three superstars will indeed square off in a massive Triple Threat.
