Liverpool interested in signing 25-year-old Barcelona star in January: Reports

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona right-back Jules Kounde. The Frenchman has been one of the most important players for Barcelona in the Hansi Flick era. Hence, it is unsurprising that a European heavyweight like Liverpool have him on their radar.

Arne Slot’s side were a bit quiet in the summer transfer window, having signed only two players—Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa. The former stayed at Valencia on loan and will join next summer. While they are in scintillating form this season, losing only one game in 11 matches across competitions, they are still poised to bolster their squad.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, Liverpool are eyeing Jules Kounde. They are ready to make an enticing financial commitment on the Frenchman, which Barcelona will not be able to resist. Amidst this development, La Blaugrana have identified Sevilla defender Loic Bade as a replacement for Kounde should the latter end up leaving the club.

The Merseyside outfit sees the Frenchman as a possible replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract will expire next summer. He has ben linked with a move to Real Madrid, as per Football Transfers. While Jules Kounde’s current market value is €55 million as per Transfermarkt, Liverpool are set to table an offer of around €70 million. This could tempt the Catalan club to accept a deal.

Kounde joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2022 for a reported fee of €50 million. In his two years at the Catalan club, he has scored four goals and provided 11 assists in 100 matches across competitions.

Liverpool join Barcelona in race to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender – Reports

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool have joined Barcelona in the bidding race for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah. The Reds have lined up the 28-year-old on their transfer list as they are preparing for a future without Virgil Van Dijk. Just like Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk’s contract at Anfield will expire next summer.

Barcelona, however, has been monitoring Tah for several months. As per the aforementioned source, the Catalan club tabled an offer for the defender in the last few days of the transfer market.

Adding to the intrigue, Tah, whose contract with Leverkusen expires next summer, has made it clear that he is not willing to extend his stay. This means he will be a free agent when the season ends, and he could join any club of his choice.

If Tah refuses to renew his contract, Barca are in the pole position to sign him. The player himself is interested in joining the Catalan club as he is keen to reunite with Hansi Flick. The latter was his coach in the German national team.
