Serena Williams recently turned to the internet to lightheartedly reveal information about her sleep schedule. She asked her followers for approval.
Williams is known to be quite transparent on the internet, be it about her lifestyle choices or her mental health concerns. The 43-year-old opened up about her early bedtime and asked her fans if she was doing it right. She took to X and wrote:
“It’s ok that I go to bed at 8:30 pm sometimes right?”
Williams also shares more serious updates about her health on social media. She detailed her medical journey during the removal of a lump in her neck last week. She shared a video on TikTok where she opened up about the operation to remove the cyst.
“Back in May I found a lump showing on my neck. I immediately went to the doc, got an MRI and was told I have a branchial cyst. Have you ever heard of that?” Serena Williams said.
“They said I don’t need to get it removed if I don’t want to. So I did not get it but it kept growing. I decided to get more tests and three tests and one biopsy later, everything is still negative but doctors advised I get it removed as soon as possible because it was the size of a small grapefruit and it could get infected or worse, leak. So this is me removing it. I am feeling so grateful, and fortunate everything worked out, and most of all I’m healthy.”
Williams also shared her thoughts on the importance of self-care amid her busy life as a mother in June.

In an Instagram post on June 15, Serena Williams said she is now comfortable taking time for herself during her daughter’s nap and was not okay with leaving her children, Olympia and Adria Ohanian, to care for herself:
“Being ok to take time for myself is something I have always struggled with. I finally started started being ok to take an hour (during nap time) away from my kids and work to do something for myself. I always feel guilty leaving them but I have to also remember taking care of myself, will only help me take better care of them.”
Williams retired in September 2022. Her last game was at the US Open, where she lost to Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-7, 6-1.
