ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai standout Jacob Smith of the United Kingdom vows to give Thai rival ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon a much different look in their highly anticipated rematch next month.
Smith clashed against Rodtang at ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs. Vienot in May 2022. That night, the 32-year-old Bad Company representative featured in his first-ever fight in ONE Championship.
Unfortunately, Rodtang delivered a savage beatdown of the British striking star, and permanently added Smith to his highlight reel.
Speaking to Cageside Press in a recent interview, Smith bared that he plans on giving ‘The Iron Man’ a better fight this time around.
Smith said:
“Yes, I have [a game plan]. But I’m not going to go in detail about what I’ve changed. Well I said this before, if you asked what changed a lot is me as a fighter. I’ve improved technically, and more so, I’m going to make sure that I’m just drawn into a war, which is what Rodtang wants.”
He continued:
“[I’m feeling] absolutely fantastic. Very confident.”
Needless to say, Smith envisions finally defeating Rodtang and taking his gold in the process. It’s a long way to the top, but if Smith is successful, it will be one of the biggest upsets in recent memory.
