Jessica Pegula responds when Danielle Collins describes her WTA tour buddies as an essential “support system” during her “difficult” fertility issues.

Jessica Pegula recently showed her support for Danielle Collins after Collins opened up about her struggles with endometriosis and her decision to delay her retirement. Collins initially planned to retire following the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals to focus on starting a family with her boyfriend, Bryan Kipp. However, her plans changed due to fertility challenges, prompting her to announce that she would continue competing in the 2025 season.

In an interview with The Athletic, Collins described how difficult it has been to deal with endometriosis and expressed gratitude for her tennis career and the friendships she has cultivated on the WTA Tour. She mentioned strong support from players like Pegula, Coco Gauff, and Madison Keys, which has been invaluable during her health struggles.

Pegula expressed her encouragement by sharing an excerpt of Collins’ interview on her Instagram story, signaling her support with a simple clap emoji (“👏”). Collins, in turn, highlighted the unique camaraderie among American players, noting how team events like the Billie Jean King Cup bring a “holiday” atmosphere and strengthen bonds among players.

Collins participated in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals alongside Taylor Townsend, Peyton Stearns, Caroline Dolehide, and Ashlyn Krueger. However, the team faced a 2-1 defeat to Slovakia in the quarterfinals, while Pegula and Gauff were absent following their WTA Finals campaigns .
