“That son of a b***h is twisting”: The NFL’s Kelce brothers are in stitches over Bill Murray’s funny Michael Jordan roundabout “Space Jam” anecdote.

Bill Murray shared the story behind his iconic appearance in Space Jam on Wednesday’s episode of New Heights, hosted by the NFL’s Kelce brothers. Murray, known for his role in the movie alongside Michael Jordan, revealed that he initially made the Chicago Bulls legend wait before agreeing to join the cast. While several people tried to convince Murray to participate, he wanted Michael Jordan to personally ask him.

Murray recalled that he was told multiple times by different people that Jordan really wanted him in the film, but he enjoyed making it more challenging. “I bet you, if he sets his mind to it, he could find my phone number. Or he could find out where I live,” Murray said, knowing Jordan’s competitive nature. Eventually, Jordan called him directly, which Murray found satisfying.

In Space Jam, Murray played himself, humorously attempting to join the NBA alongside Jordan. He even joked about retiring from basketball at the end of the film after helping the Tune Squad defeat the Monstars. Despite his playful reluctance, Murray said he was glad to contribute to the film’s success.

Additionally, Space Jam featured several NBA players, including Patrick Ewing, who also shared stories from the set. Ewing recalled how Jordan’s trash-talking extended beyond the court and into their off-set activities, such as playing pool and having dinner together. Jordan famously taunted his fellow players, including Ewing and Charles Barkley, for not having championships at the time. Despite the trash talk, Ewing enjoyed the experience, and the film went on to earn over $250 million globally, far surpassing its $80 million budget.
