Ja Morant reserves special one-word praise for Boogie Fland’s clutch show vs. Miami

After Boogie Fland’s impressive 18-point performance against the Miami Hurricanes, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant shared his reaction on Instagram, acknowledging the Arkansas guard’s clutch play. Fland’s game-sealing shot, a midrange jumper with under a minute left, helped the Razorbacks secure a 76-73 victory. Morant posted a clip of the shot to his Instagram story, accompanied by a simple yet supportive message: “League 🤞🏽,” with a crossed-fingers emoji, expressing hope that Fland’s performance will lead him to the NBA.

Fland finished the game with 18 points, four rebounds, and six assists, shooting 46.2% from the field, including four 3-pointers. His standout play against Miami follows a quieter eight-point outing against Illinois, but his recent performance has earned significant attention, including from Morant.

Fland, projected to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has long admired Morant’s style of play. In a 2022 interview, Fland mentioned how he tries to model his game after Morant, citing the Memphis guard’s unselfishness, explosiveness, and ability to get his teammates involved. Fland’s representation by Lift Sports Management, which has a partnership with Rubicon Talent (Morant’s management agency), further strengthens the connection between the two.

While Memphis owns their own 2025 first-round pick, it’s unlikely the Grizzlies will have the chance to draft Fland unless they trade up, given their current position as the fourth seed in the West.
