Mayssa Bastos, the reigning and undisputed ONE women’s atomweight submission grappling world champion from Brazil, is not only a highly accomplished jiu-jitsu practitioner but also has a growing interest in hobbies outside the mats. Recently, Bastos shared her newfound passion for collecting Manga, a Japanese comic book style. She started the collection earlier this year during a trip to Japan, a country she’s always admired for its culture. In an interview with ONE Championship, she explained, “I started in the middle of this year, when I was in Japan… I had already read some Manga and watched some Anime, and I think that was what attracted me and motivated me to start this collection.”
When she’s not indulging in her Manga collection, Bastos enjoys outdoor activities. She loves spending time at the beach, especially on weekends, and has a particular fondness for hiking. “I really like hiking, but I like to do the kind of trail where at the end I have that beautiful view, a kind of reward for the climb,” she said.
Bastos is now preparing to defend her atomweight submission grappling world title against Danielle Kelly in a rematch at ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs. Rasulov on December 6, 2024. The event will be held at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and will be streamed live for free to U.S. viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
