Former ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon met rival Marat Grigorian for a third time this past April at ONE Friday Fights 58. This time, the ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world championship was on the line.
Superbon and Grigorian both have a win over the other, which made their trilogy bout extremely intriguing. The head honcho of Superbon Training Camp pulled out all the stops to stifle Grigorian’s relentless assault and eventually triumphed via unanimous decision.
Relive the entire five-round war between Superbon and Grigorian below, as shared by ONE on YouTube:
With interim featherweight kickboxing gold around his waist, Superbon is on track to rematch Chingiz Allazov, who unceremoniously dethroned him with a monstrous second-round knockout in Jan. 2023 to win the ONE featherweight kickboxing world championship.
Before he rematches ‘Chinga’ for the undisputed ONE featherweight kickboxing world championship, Superbon will first fight ‘Smokin’ Jo Nattawut in a Muay Thai match at ONE Friday Fights 81 on Sept. 27 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Dissecting Superbon’s keys to victory at ONE Friday Fights 81
Superbon has been a near-unstoppable monster when competing under kickboxing rules. He has five victorious outings in six bouts, including his sensational headkick knockout of Italian legend Giorgio Petrosyan in Oct. 2021.
However, because his ONE Friday Fights 81 clash with Jo Nattawut will be held under Muay Thai rules, the Thai Top Team product already possesses a slight advantage due to his slicing elbows.
For Superbon to come out on top on Sept. 27 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, he must rely on his boxing skills and slick footwork to open up Nattawut for the heavier blows. The 34-year-old will also have to be wary of Nattawut’s feints, which have caught many opponents off guard.
