Aung La N Sang believes 29th career finish will come vs Shamil Erdogan: “Everything that I’m doing points to that”

Aung La N Sang envisions seeing off Shamil Erdogan at ONE 168: Denver the best way he knows how – a highlight-reel finish.

The former ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world champion goes toe-to-toe with the undefeated Turkish sensation in Ball Arena on September 6. They collide in a high-stakes middleweight fixture just one bout away from the two world title tilts in Denver, Colorado.

While he doesn’t guarantee that he’ll be able to stop Erdogan, the Burmese warrior admits the work he has put throughout fight camp could massively help him in his bid to score another statement victory

When asked about whether or not he’d be able to knock out the Kremost Fight Club athlete, Aung La N Sang told the South China Morning Post:

“There’s only [one] way to find out, right? On September 6. But everything that I’m doing points to that.”

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, though. Through his two-decade journey in the all-encompassing discipline, ‘The Burmese Python’ has finished 28 of his 30 wins inside the distance.

More impressively, each of the 39-year-old’s last 12 triumphs under the ONE banner have come by knockout or submission, and he’d love nothing more than to add to his collection of finishes when he meets the Turkish powerhouse at ONE 168: Denver.

Aung La N Sang wants a shot at middleweight gold if he clears Erdogan

Should he get his hand raised against the Russian-born Turkish representative, the Kill Cliff FC fighter wants nothing more than a five-round scrap against reigning kingpin and three-division MMA world champion Anatoly Malykhin.

Talking to ONE Championship recently, ‘The Burmese Python’ hinted at his next goal on the global stage:

“Guys like [Erdogan], you know, undefeated Russians – they’re good hammers. He’s not the last undefeated Russian I want to fight either.”
