Paddy Pimblett was infamously tossed out of a Premier League match between his home club, Liverpool, and Watford F.C. in 2021. According to the UFC lightweight, he was removed by stewards for celebrating goals scored by Liverpool whilst being sat in the Watford fans section of the stadium.
‘The Paddy’ is a well-known fan of Liverpool F.C., and has attended matches at the hallowed Anfield Stadium for years. Whilst his passionate celebrations may be welcomed in The Kop End, they saw him get the boot at Vicarage Road.
The man responsible for sorting out Pimblett’s tickets, Ben Foster, former professional goalkeeper for England, Manchester United, and Watford F.C. from 2018-2022, has now shared his side of the story.
During a recent episode of Fozcast, a podcast hosted by Foster, he said this:
“I got [Pimblett] four tickets for the game. They’re Watford tickets, at Watford, so he has to sit in amongst the Watford fans. So I said, ‘Paddy, I can get you four tickets. But you’ve got to keep it on the down-low…’ “Beat us 5-0, Mo Salah hattrick. Every goal that went in, [Pimblett] is jumping around, celebrating…”
Foster continued:
“Anyway, I got a week’s fine for that… I got done a week’s wages for that.”
‘The Baddy’ released a video online following the incident in 2021 and said this:
“Been kicked out of the match for celebrating… Ben Foster, I love you lad, but I hope Watford go down.”
Paddy Pimblett open to Dan Hooker clash following UFC 305
Dan Hooker has soared into the lightweight division’s top five rankings following his stellar performance against perennial contender Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305.
The Kiwi entered the bout having not competed in over a year after suffering a broken arm against Jalin Turner at UFC 290, where he secured a split-decision win.
Hooker returned looking as sharp as ever as he walked away following another split-decision win to replace Gamrot as the new No.5 ranked lightweight contender.
Paddy Pimblett was on hand to share his reaction to the ‘The Hangman’ securing a coveted top-5 ranking and shared his keenness in facing the striking specialist in the future:
“Dan Hooker back in the top five. It could be a nice fight for me in the future.”
