Sneakerhead PJ Tucker reveals a ridiculous amount spent on kicks

NBA veteran PJ Tucker has earned a reputation for having a ludicrous sneaker collection. Throughout his 13 years in the league, Tucker has stepped on the court in several incredibly rare and even never-before-seen shoes. During an interview with NiceKicks posted on Wednesday, Tucker was asked how much he has spent on sneakers in his lifetime.

“I’d say $4, $5 million. … Easy. For sure.”

Considering the number of high-end sneakers Tucker has worn in his career, it’s not entirely surprising. For example, in 2021 on Demarcus Cousins’ Instagram story, Tucker had what appeared to be at least a hundred pairs of shoes scattered throughout the Houston Rockets locker room.

In addition to a pile of shoes in front of the team’s lockers, Cousins also showed a stack of shoes around the corner that apparently belonged to Tucker as well. At the time, even Cousins was floored saying that Tucker’s sneaker addiction was out of hand.

Tucker has also stepped out in the Nike Air Mags from the iconic movie “Back to the Future.” The incredibly rare pair alone is currently listed at $19,500 – $44,114 on StockX.

PJ Tucker and Raid team up to save shoes

While PJ Tucker is known in the NBA as the “sneaker king,” he has also gained notoriety outside of the NBA for his sneaker collection. With one of the biggest collections in the world, Tucker caught the attention of Raid, a company known in the US for making bug spray.

The 2021 NBA Champion and Raid partnered for a recent campaign with a video on Instagram where Raid revealed that according to a poll, 60% of people use shoes when they need to kill a bug.

In the ad released on Wednesday, PJ Tucker and Raid announced that by going to RaidShoeSaver.com, people can scan their shoe size and score discounts on Raid bug spray to help save their shoes.

“With 60% of Americans grabbing their favorite shoes to squish and eliminate bugs. The kicks suffer. The secret to keeping my shoe collection fresh? Just use the bed method Raid. Visit rayshoesaver.com to turn your shoe size into savings on Raid.”

The commercial comes amid talk of Tucker’s future with the LA Clippers for the 2024-25 season. After expressing his desire for a change in scenery last year, the NBA vet then opted into the final year of his contract.

In turn, the New York Times is reporting that the Clippers are preparing for Tucker to be on their training camp roster.
